ALEXANDER NETTESHEIM

The idea sounds simple, but as simple ideas go, they can be quite tricky to execute. Alexander Nettesheim, a native of Cologne who moved his studio to Aachen, not far away, wants to combine structure, function and emotionality in his designs. That sounds like the soft version of squaring the circle, but he proves time and again that it is possible. His award-winning ideas are straightforward, but always with a surprising twist and a mischievous wink. Just right to appear again and again in jankurtz's portfolio. However, his design "Auslaufmodell" (discontinued model), a white seat shell with a black splash of colour instead of a seat cushion, which runs onto the floor and thus serves as a support leg, is not yet in the programme.
